27 arrests made in relation to Spalding burglaries

An operation that was aiming to crack down on burglaries and crime in Spalding has been very successful after 27 people were arrested by the police. In response to a number of burglaries that took place in Spalding, an operation called Jargon was launched in November with a team of officers that were dedicated to tackling the problem.

The objective of the operation was to prevent or disrupt criminal activity, detect and reduce vehicle crime and burglary and arrest offenders. Officers in plain clothes and uniforms patrolled the main areas and reported findings to CID officers who were supporting the operation.

In little over a month 82 intelligence submissions were made, 143 stop/searches were carried out and 10 properties were searched. In addition to this 27 arrests were made based on 13 different thefts. The operation appears to be very successful considering the number of arrests that were made in the short span of time. The Sector Inspector is hopeful of the arrests being converted into charges and convictions so that this does not happen again.

People are being reminded to safeguard their belongings to stop these incidents. A great way to do this would be by using a security safe. These devices are the best way to thwart burglars. Security safes do not only protect valuables from theft but some can also protect valuable items from fire.
