Burglar with a photographic memory confesses to over 500 burglaries
In an interesting development, a burglar called the police from his prison cell and admitted to over 500 burglaries.
The burglar, Stuart McCormick is 31 years old and has a photographic memory. He has admitted to all undetected crimes committed by him, in a decade of drug-fuelled law breaking.
McCormick is currently serving a 3 years 9 months jail sentence that he started in July 2007. The police officials are stunned by the accuracy of the details provided by him and it took them over a year to establish the authenticity of his claims. According to the legal representative for McCormick, the police are satisfied with his claims. He also said that his client’s memory is astounding and the accurate recollection of so many crimes is phenomenal.
To verify his claims, the police took him around Gloucester and asked him to identify the properties burgled by him. Later, they checked the identified properties with available crime records. There were 201 vehicle-related crimes and 303 incidents of property burglary.
Upon his likely release in June this year, McCormick will be sent to a residential drug rehab centre.
Incidents such as this, where burglars confess their crimes is very rare. It is vital to secure and protect your valuables and important belongings by storing them in a security safe. Different types of security safes are available in many sizes for your home and office.
