The Northamptonshire police are on the lookout for a burglar who broke into a home by using the cat-flap.
The police strongly believe that the burglar entered the property in Ganton Close, Daventry after reaching for the door keys through the cat-flap. The break-in is said to have occurred between 10pm on 12 June and 6am on 13 June.
Among the items stolen by the burglar from the house were various keys, two mobile phones, a handbag that contained a purse and the keys of a Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle. He stole the motorcycle from the garage but it was later recovered in Northampton along with the purse, but minus the cash.
Following the burglary, the police spokesman reminded all homeowners to never leave their keys or other valuables in areas that can be easily accessed by someone trying to reach inside through a letterbox or leaning against a window.
Burglary incidents have been on the rise in the UK and many homeowners are often unaware on how to protect their valuables. Simply storing valuables and other precious belongings in a home safe can deter burglars. Home safes are available in many different shapes and sizes and are very effective in storing previous belongings safely and securely.
