Burglaries in Pembroke cause concern for residents and police

Category: Burglary News | June 9, 2009

Following a number of home burglaries, the police in Pembroke have said that they have obtained some strong leads that will probably help them track down the burglars involved in the incidents. Scott J Lane, the police chief for Pembroke said the fingerprints which have been collected from burglaries which occurred last week where thieves broke into parked cars and homes when residents were asleep have produced some matches.

Between 10:30pm on 4 June 2009 and 7:30am, burglars forced their way into a Tina Drive home first and then a Dearborn house whilst the occupants were sleeping. He said that electronic equipment, a purse and jewellery were found missing. The same night a wallet was also taken from a car which was parked on Millard Street.

To add to this there have been more car break-ins in which items have been stolen. Officer Lane said that all the cars were on the driveways but had been left unlocked. He suspects that the latest thefts from cars are probably related but may not be linked to those that occurred last week.

Police have already increased patrols in the area and have asked residents to report any unusual activity. They have also warned residents about securely locking their homes and vehicles at all time. Extra security measures such as alarms and home safes would also be a good idea. With the rising number of burglaries, residents have been advised to install security safes and other security devices that will keep their homes and important belongings protected.

Lowestoft - Hit by bitter spate of burglaries and break-ins

Category: Burglary News | June 5, 2009

The global recession has given rise to increasing numbers of burglaries in UK. Lowestoft is one of the worst burglary hit areas of UK. The numbers of break-ins in this area has crossed large numbers. In the months of April and May alone 40 arrests have been made in relation to different cases of thefts and break-ins.

The list of objects stolen includes plasma TVs, expensive jewellery, money, laptops and other expensive electronic equipments. Although the police are trying best to put a check on the burglaries, results are not delightful.

A sensible way to keep your belongings safe in these circumstances is to buy good quality burglar safes and install better locking systems on the doors. While buying a burglar safe you must spend generously and obtain a safe that is strong and cannot be easily broken. Insurance coverage can also be obtained depending on the quality of your safe.

You can also hide the safes by camouflaging it if you plan to store very expensive items. Another important point is to bolt the safe to the wall or the ground to prevent burglars from carrying the safes out of your home. So, select a safe wisely and install it properly for providing best protection to your belongings.

Police warn residents to lock up or risk losing their valuables

Category: Burglary News | June 1, 2009

The rising burglaries in Gainsborough have caused police to constantly remind residents of the area to either lock their homes and vehicles or risk loosing them. This message comes following a spate of burglaries that took place due to the number of homes and cars that were left unlocked.

Although unconnected, eight similar offences were reported in just one weekend in the villages of Gainsborough south of Lincoln. Mark Housley, the chief inspector of the new west division has appealed for the public’s support by asking them to secure the doors and windows of both, cars and homes.

Lincolnshire Police are asking the public for the same although they say that many homeowners are ignoring this simple message. Leaving these open is making it easier for burglars to do their job and is more difficult for the police to do theirs as there are reduced chances of evidence being left. Residents are also being warned that this attitude will cause problems when trying to claim on their insurance policies.

As well as ensuring that doors and windows of homes and cars are locked at all times, there are other security systems available as well. Homeowners are being encouraged to install security alarms and security safes in their homes. This will help reduce the possibility of homeowners losing valuables and important items. Security safes have always been a good deterrent to burglaries and this is why installing them is so important.

Larne residents asked to increase security in their homes

Category: Burglary News | May 25, 2009

Homeowners in Larne have been advised to take immediate steps and necessary precautions to ensure that they do not become victims of the latest string of burglaries in the area. It was reported that in just the last week seven homes in the area were broken into and expensive vehicles and items worth thousands of pounds were stolen.

Ever since those burglaries have happened, there have been attacks just like that and they are causing concern for homeowners and the local police. According to Noel Rogan, Larne PSNI Inspector, all the burglaries seem to be the work of the same team of burglars. Apparently, they break into homes, steal what they can and make off with the loot in vehicles which belong to the homeowners.

Police, however, have managed to recover some vehicles in a nearby area. Insp. Rogan said that the best way to deal with this kind of burglaries is by residents staying vigilant and informing the police about suspicious activity as soon as they see something.

Residents have also been told to keep the keys of their vehicles with them during the night. Security is vital at these times and protecting belongings is necessary. Installing security safes is a good way of protecting valuables. With a security safe, all important things like money and other valuable items, including keys can be safe from burglars ensuring that little or no damage is incurred.

Brave landlady shoos away burglar

Category: Burglary News | May 23, 2009

Elaine Sexton, a brave landlady from Lacock, confronted and chased away a burglar at her guesthouse The Old Rectory. This was the second burglary attempt, just two weeks after the guesthouse was first raided.

The guesthouse on Cantax Hill is run by Ms Sexton with the assistance of her husband Paul. She was furious to see the burglar breaking in the guesthouse early morning on 18/5/2009, just 10 days after the first burglary and her daughter Laura’s skydive sponsorship money being robbed.

She noticed the burglar when she was coming downstairs to start her day’s work and scared him off. She was on her way downstairs to turn off the burglar alarm and noticed that her handbag was rifled and muddy footprints on the floor. Following the footprints out of the room, she realised that the front door was open and heard someone breathing heavily on the other side.

Ms Sexton said she first thought that the burglar had gone but when she saw that he was hanging around the guesthouse decided to confront him. The police are investigating the case based upon the facts mentioned by Ms Sexton and have advised businesses in the vicinity to not keep money on their business premises.

Having a burglar alarm is a good security feature but sometimes, burglars manage to sneak in the house without causing the alarm to ring off. A safe and secure way of keeping money and other valuables is home safes that are available in many different sizes and shapes. Homes safes that can be installed under the floor are also available and are very effective in storing your money securely.

Museum director of Bede’s World slams burglars

Category: Burglary News | May 21, 2009

The museum director of Bede’s World, Kate Sussams has slammed the ‘mindless’ burglars who robbed the major South Tyneside tourist attraction. The burglars stole cash after forcibly breaking into the tourist attraction sometime between 5pm on 17/05/2009 and 7am on 18/05/2009.

The burglary at the museum is said to have occurred just after the Jarrow Festival medieval fair, which was attended by a record crowd of more than 3,000 visitors. Although, the damage caused by the robbers was minimal and will cause little financial impact, the museum director has called the burglary a mindless and regrettable criminal act that can affect everyone who is connected to the museum.

The amount stolen by the burglars has not be revealed as yet but the break-in has definitely spoilt a highly successful weekend for the staff at Bede’s World, which brought thousands of local visitors to the museum enjoying many attractions, ranging from falconry displays to historic battle re-enactments at the medieval fair.

Due to the current economic condition, the rate of such burglaries in the UK has increased considerably. Keeping valuables or other precious and important belongings at home or at the workplace is no longer safe. However, keeping valuables and precious belongings in a home safe can ensure its safety and deter thieves from robbing it. Home safes are available in a wide range of shapes, designs, security and fire ratings and the right security safe should be selected depending on the item that needs protection.

Graham Hill of Chorley’s CID said that the incident was most probably linked to a series of other burglaries in other Chorley villages. These home security safes provide additional security for money, expensive jewellery and other personal belongings.
