Category: Home Safes, Security Safes | February 19, 2009

The most terrifying thought every individual is plagued with is losing the thing they value the most. Be it people, family or any other valuables that have been acquired. While one cannot do much about natural calamities, we can definitely take measures to safeguard them and minimise the impact of the loss.

Interestingly, the history of safeguarding ones belongings goes back a long way in determining how well mankind has evolved. With the onset of new technology we are continually blessed with gadgets and new inventions which are not only expensive but also contain a lot of confidential information which needs to be safeguarded. It is advisable to determine what we consider valuable and what kind of safety measures we can take to safeguard it. The most commonly used measure for keeping jewellery, important documents and other valuables has been by using safes.

The safes available in recent times now include a term called a cash rating. This rating is recognised by insurance companies and provides insurance against the contents of the safe. This is dependent upon what is kept inside the safe in the event of a burglary or fire. However, it is always advisable to clarify beforehand on the insurance cover with the respective insurance company. Likewise, there are different kinds of safes available such as fire safes, security safes and home safes depending on what one wants to safeguard and from what dangers.

Security safes for your important valuables

Category: Security Safes

A usual locking cabinet can secure your personal items and valuables, but it will not protect them from fire damage or theft. Safes are the only options that can provide a better level of protection for your valuables like jewellery, documents, money and other personal items. Computer data is something that can be impossible or difficult to restore if it is lost. Business and home security systems need additional security to eliminate the chances of document or data loss in cases of fire or other disasters.

Most home robberies are usually classified as “snatch and grab.” The burglar spends more or less three to five minutes inside the home. The presence of home security safes is a deterrent to such robberies. Any extra time spent within the home adds to the anxiety of burglars and so they tend to avoid homes with security safes.

Climate control management and theft avoidance makes security safes a necessity for any business office or home. The required security given by business and home safes completes several existing security control systems.

Home security safes provide protection to your personal documents, files, valuables, jewellery and other irreplaceable items. Home safes are the most important deterrents for robbery and provide the much needed security from fire. Advanced security safes such as floor safes, wall safes, fire safes and electronic safes are very effective in preventing theft and robberies. Home safes perfectly complement other home security systems. A security safe also offers necessary protection against theft, fire and climate changes.

Rise in burglaries in upper class areas of Kingston

Category: Burglary News | February 18, 2009

As the recession begins to bite, burglaries are on the rise in Kingston and the area is becoming an attractive target for criminals. Four burglaries were reported in December 2008, while break-ins have also shot up by a quarter during the same period.

Moreover, poorer areas like Tolworth, Hook and Chessington North have experienced a remarkable drop in burglaries over the same period. In December, an overall of 125 burglaries were reported in Kingston. The news came just days after Home Secretary Jacqui Smith announced the recession would not predictably lead to more burglaries, even though the “historical situation” signified a raise in the crime rate. In addition, grove ward town in Kingston remains the prime spot for burglars with more than 12 burglaries per 1000 members of the population. Kingston has experienced its first swell in burglaries for a considerable time in the last quarter of 2008/09.

Kingston police recognise the substantial effect domestic burglary is having on its victims and are committing immense resources towards crime prevention and arresting those responsible. This has resulted in several suspects being arrested and charged in the months of December and January for offences.

The best way to thwart attempted robbery and burglary is to use security safes. By using security safes to guard your possessions, you can ensure that your belongings remain safe even in the case of an attempted theft or burglary.

A burglary whether at home or at a business is a devastating incident. It not only results in the loss of important or valuable items but can also make the victims feel vulnerable. Many people prefer to safeguard their valuables by keeping them in a safe deposit box in their bank. However, this can be a little inconvenient if you want or need access to them often. In such cases, the best investments are wall safes.

These safes can be installed at home or in the office and are very effective at providing people with the perfect place they can secure their important items and valuables. Wall safes are fixed between studs in walls and most wall safes have flanges which eliminate the need to re-plaster walls.

It is important though, to check the safes rating before you purchase the safe. This is to ensure that you get a safe that will suit your needs completely. Safes are rated in three categories A, B and C, the first rating can withstand fire of 2,000 degrees for four hours, the second can withstand a 1,850 degree fire for two hours and the third a fire of 1,000 degrees for an hour.

These safes are great for paper documents or other valuables but not for computer equipment. There are other safes available for that purpose. Wall safes are available in various sizes and depending on the model you choose, the lock on your wall safe can be a key, electronic lock or combination.

Man jailed for ‘sneak burglary’ at solicitor’s family home

Category: Burglary News | February 11, 2009

A man from Teesside has been jailed for a ‘sneak burglary’ at solicitor Teresa Higgins’s family home.

The burglar, John Lee Hudson from Grassington Road, Middlesbrough has 19 previous burglary convictions and arrived for his sentencing at the Teesside Crown Court with a packed suitcase. The court heard how the 32-year-old Hudson knocked on the door of the solicitor’s home in Bedford Road, Nunthorpe on 15 September last year and told her that some youths had been seen entering her garden.

When the solicitor went into the garden to check and have a look, Hudson ran for her car keys and climbed into her car, along with an accomplice who got in the driving seat. The victim pleaded with them not to steal the car and after driving the car for short distance, the accomplice pulled the car over and both he and Hudson fled.

According to the prosecutor, Paul Newcombe, Teresa Higgins was alone at her home with her 2-year-old daughter when Hudson knocked on her door and told her the story. Hudson has been sentenced to prison for 3 years for the burglary.

Lately, such incidents of ‘sneak burglaries’ have become a common thing in the United Kingdom. It has never been so necessary to secure your precious valuables. The best way to safeguard valuables at home is with a security safe installed in the wall or under the floor.
