Valuables, important documents and computer records form a very important part of our life and business. Protecting these articles from thieves as well as accidents is now becoming a priority. Many people are turning towards safes of various sizes in order to lock up their valuable and so keep them safe. But do these safes provide complete security?
Fire safes are very efficient compared to normal safes. True to the name, fire safes protect your documents and valuables from harm that can be caused due to fire at your home or office. Fire safes are built in a way that resists the heat generated by the fire so it does not affect the valuables inside the safe, for a certain period of time.
Fire safes come in different types and sizes. It is always better to check the protection time of a fire safe before purchasing, so that you know what to expect if disaster strikes.
Some fire safes are also tested for their burglary ratings in order to determine how secure they are. Though made specifically for fire purposes, your fire safe will also offer a great deal of protection and increase the amount of time that a burglar may take to break it open.
Security today is a major concern among many people, and as such home safes have been increasing in popularity. People have begun to realise the importance of safes in their homes and offices, as they need to keep their valuables and important documents out of harm’s reach.
Safes can be used for storing a variety of things. Jewellery, money and important documents in the form of paper and discs, can all be stored in your safe. Since safes can only be open by a key or with a particular combination code, it is difficult for someone to break into your safe.
Safes are available in different types. Therefore, when purchasing a safe you need to check the grading of the safe to see how reliable it is. The higher the grading the longer it will take a locksmith with all the specific tools to break into the safe.
Safes cannot offer you complete security on their own. It is important to make sure that you position the safe in a location that is not easily identifiable. Never give out the security combination code to anyone, as this will increase the chances of theft.
In order to choose the right safe for your needs, consult the company you are purchasing the safe from as they will be able to make the best decision, keeping your needs in mind.
Home security systems date back to the nineteenth century. With the advent of technology, modern security systems have come into being and home security systems have come a long way since then.

And if you wished to monitor these systems, you had to be within range of the audible alarm. However, intruders gradually mastered the art of defeating these systems, rendering home security systems ineffective.
The release of a button fitted into a window frame or door triggered earliest security systems and it was easy for the intruder to silence the alarm once it was triggered.

The Croydon police are concerned about the rise in burglaries that are taking place currently in the localised area. The number of burglaries has doubled since last year, and a notable trend is that most of them have taken place during the day. Last December saw the Croydon police launch Operation Spotlight due to the 68 percent rise in burglaries since November 2007.
However, since then they have gone up from 6 a day and now amount to an average of 10 burglaries per day. When contacted about the rising burglaries, Dave Palmer, DS said that there has definitely been a significant increase from last December till today but the police cannot take control of the situation by themselves. They are urging residents to call them immediately if they spot any suspicious activity.
This would help them stop the offence before it could even happen which would be a huge accomplishment. Last week the police stopped and searched more than 100 people in north Croydon, where most of the crime takes place. Four arrests for non-residential burglaries and eight for residential burglaries have already been made.
More caution should be taken by residents in order to reduce these incidents. People are being encouraged to install security safes in their homes so that they can protect their valuables from getting stolen. Security safes are one of the best ways to ensure that personal belongings are kept safely from intruders.

Both homes have had laptops stolen and from one home the car, which is a black BMW M3. A Washford Glen home was also burgled on the same night from where a handbag was stolen.
Emma Wright, PC, is advising anyone who may have any information or witnessed suspicious activity regarding the burglaries to contact her. She also said that opportunist thieves are the ones that carry out most burglaries. But by using inexpensive and simple precautions we can prevent these burglaries from taking place.
Along with ensuring that doors and windows are locked properly there are other things that can be done to safeguard belongings. Home safes are an important addition to all our homes in these unpredictable times as they can make a burglar’s job very difficult which will save homeowners’ money and valuables.
