A man from Old Basford, Nottingham, has been released by the police on bail following massive support by members of the public, who hailed him as a hero.
The man was quizzed by the police over the fatal stabbing of the suspected burglar 17-year old Tyler Juett, who was killed after he was allegedly caught breaking into a house. The teenage burglar was rushed to the Queen’s Medical Center but succumbed to the stab wounds.
According to neighbours, Juett was confronted inside the home of Jacqueline Johnson, a 46-year-old foster carer and her three grown-up children. Two men in their early twenties, believed to be relatives of Ms Johnson and four youths were later arrested by the police in connection with the stabbing incident.
Later, it emerged that a 14-year-old boy – an accomplice of Juett - was stabbed in the incident but did not have any serious injuries.
The police are treating the death of Juett as murder and have released the 21-year-old without any charges, while the 22-year-old has been freed on bail. The Johnson family has received massive public support online, with one website hailing the householder’s right to defend his home.

In news that will break a smile among Bolton residents, a prolific burglar was recently jailed for a term of three years.
The burglar, Paul Tillot, 39 years old, is a resident of Woodvale Grove, Bolton. He was sentenced by Bolton Crown Court after pleading guilty to burglary charges.
On 7 September 2008, at around 2am, Tillot broke into a home on Landore Close, Radcliffe. Tillot used the garden spade and shears of the 58-year-old victim to force entry through a window at the front side of the property.
Once he gained entry, Tillot stole a camera and cash. He also ate food form the victim’s kitchen before leaving through the back of the house.
Police officers were successfully in identifying Tillot from past offences and subsequently charged him for the burglary. Detective Constable Michael Kennedy from Bury’s Volume Crime Team said that he was pleased that Tillot, a repeat offender, has been held accountable for his crimes.
The Detective Constable also added that Tillot had shown no respect for the homes that he burgled and no respect for the victims who lived there.

An operation that was aiming to crack down on burglaries and crime in Spalding has been very successful after 27 people were arrested by the police. In response to a number of burglaries that took place in Spalding, an operation called Jargon was launched in November with a team of officers that were dedicated to tackling the problem.
The objective of the operation was to prevent or disrupt criminal activity, detect and reduce vehicle crime and burglary and arrest offenders. Officers in plain clothes and uniforms patrolled the main areas and reported findings to CID officers who were supporting the operation.
In little over a month 82 intelligence submissions were made, 143 stop/searches were carried out and 10 properties were searched. In addition to this 27 arrests were made based on 13 different thefts. The operation appears to be very successful considering the number of arrests that were made in the short span of time. The Sector Inspector is hopeful of the arrests being converted into charges and convictions so that this does not happen again.

Two bogus men pretending to be council workers entered a sick pensioner’s home in Bidford and stole her handbag. This distraction robbery occurred on Monday 2nd March soon after 2pm, when two men entered her home and informed the woman that they were from the council.
They immediately went upstairs where the occupant was lying on her bed due to illness. She advised them to go out of her home, but before this, one of them bent forwards and grabbed her handbag that was next to her on the bed. The handbag contained cash along with her pension book.
The two men then ran off towards the direction of Waterloo Road. Later on, a white van was seen to be driving away from the area. Both of the men are believed to be white. Among the two, one of them was around 40 years old, 6ft tall having a large build. He was wearing khaki coloured jacket along with a brown hat. His partner in crime was around 20 to 30 years of age with black hair; he was dressed in black trousers along with a small black bomber style jacket.
