Two bogus men pretending to be council workers entered a sick pensioner’s home in Bidford and stole her handbag. This distraction robbery occurred on Monday 2nd March soon after 2pm, when two men entered her home and informed the woman that they were from the council.
They immediately went upstairs where the occupant was lying on her bed due to illness. She advised them to go out of her home, but before this, one of them bent forwards and grabbed her handbag that was next to her on the bed. The handbag contained cash along with her pension book.
The two men then ran off towards the direction of Waterloo Road. Later on, a white van was seen to be driving away from the area. Both of the men are believed to be white. Among the two, one of them was around 40 years old, 6ft tall having a large build. He was wearing khaki coloured jacket along with a brown hat. His partner in crime was around 20 to 30 years of age with black hair; he was dressed in black trousers along with a small black bomber style jacket.
This incident could have easily been avoided if there was a Chubb safe at home. Security safes are the best place for safeguarding all valuable items like jewellery, money and important documents.
