Lowestoft police have asked the people in this area to remain alert at all times following a number of burglaries that have taken place in the town. During the last fortnight, about 20 break-ins were reported and police are investigating the cases. Several arrests have also been made with a view to stopping the crime spree.
The most recent burglary in the area took place at a property in Kirkley Gardens from where cash, jewellery, a laptop and other valuables were stolen. The incident happened sometime on Saturday between 3 pm that day and 1:30 pm the next day.
Another break-in was reported at a home in Windward Way from where an iPod, jewellery and a huge amount of money was stolen. Police have already arrested an 18 year old in connection with the break-in but are also urging people in the area to call 999 immediately if they see anything unusual.
Photographing jewellery, recording serial numbers and removing keys from locks are other important steps police have asked residents to take.
What people should understand is that to protect jewellery, money and other valuables a home safe is a must. These safes can actually thwart burglaries and provide needed security for homes and the important things they hold.
