A man from Teesside has been jailed for a ‘sneak burglary’ at solicitor Teresa Higgins’s family home.
The burglar, John Lee Hudson from Grassington Road, Middlesbrough has 19 previous burglary convictions and arrived for his sentencing at the Teesside Crown Court with a packed suitcase. The court heard how the 32-year-old Hudson knocked on the door of the solicitor’s home in Bedford Road, Nunthorpe on 15 September last year and told her that some youths had been seen entering her garden.
When the solicitor went into the garden to check and have a look, Hudson ran for her car keys and climbed into her car, along with an accomplice who got in the driving seat. The victim pleaded with them not to steal the car and after driving the car for short distance, the accomplice pulled the car over and both he and Hudson fled.
According to the prosecutor, Paul Newcombe, Teresa Higgins was alone at her home with her 2-year-old daughter when Hudson knocked on her door and told her the story. Hudson has been sentenced to prison for 3 years for the burglary.
Lately, such incidents of ‘sneak burglaries’ have become a common thing in the United Kingdom. It has never been so necessary to secure your precious valuables. The best way to safeguard valuables at home is with a security safe installed in the wall or under the floor.
