Police appeal to residents after attempted supermarket burglary

Two suspects are being hunted by the police after an unsuccessful burglary attempt at a Neath supermarket. The attempted burglary happened around 6.15am at CKs supermarket in Cimla Road.

It is believed that the two suspects tried to force their entry by using a wooden implement while the supermarket was closed.

Acting Detective Inspector of the Neath Port Talbot CID, Phil Sparrow, says the two suspects were interrupted in their attempt by a member of the public who confronted them. They fled in a small dark car – possibly a Fiesta – in the direction of Neath town centre.

He appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information if they saw anyone acting suspiciously outside or near the CKs supermarket at around 6am to 6.15am.

The police have also passed on information regarding the description of the two suspects. The first suspect has been described as male, aged around 18, white, stocky build, height around 5ft 7in, wearing dark clothes, scarf over his face and a hooded top. The second suspect has been described as male, white, of similar build and age as the first suspect, and also wearing dark clothing.

In the current economic situation, protecting your money and other valuables from burglaries is very important. For the safety and protection of your business, always keep your money in a security safe when the store is closed.
