Following a spate of burglaries, the residents of the Hanwell area have been urged by the police to constantly be vigilant. Apparently burglars have targeted the roads that run on both sides of Boston Road which goes through Olde Hanwell. Mark Ogunwe, PC of the Elthrone Safer Neighbourhood Team, said that the most vulnerable homes seem to be the ones with alleys behind them.
Last week at a Hanwell Community Forum meeting, he urged residents to stay alert when they answered the door. He also said that it is usually two burglars working together. When one knocks on the door to find out if there is anyone at home, the other first goes through the garden and breaks a ground floor window to enter the home from the rear.
A number of measures are being taken to cut down the number of burglaries happening. These include more patrols around the area, distributing leaflets and encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity. Residents have also been told to inform neighbours if they go on holiday. They have also been asked to lock windows and doors whether or not they are at home.
It is important for people to know, in order to safeguard their valuable belongings, that installing a Chubb safe is vital. This is because Chubb safes are excellent in deterring burglaries. These safes are available in various sizes to fit all purposes and offer excellent protection for possessions.
