Rising temperatures means increase in Brighton burglaries

Along with the warm weather, summer has also brought a number of home burglaries to the residents of the UK. The increased burglaries have hit different parts of the UK and police have warned that burglars are taking advantage of the hot weather and targeting homes that are left unlocked.

In recent days, ten homes in Hove and five in Kemp Town have been entered and burgled due to open doors and windows. In most of the cases, police said that laptops have been stolen as they are easy to carry and are expensive. A majority of the reports have come from Hove’s Brunswick Square area and St. James Street, Brighton.

Inspector Rob Leet said that the burglaries have taken place in crowded areas where the burglar can look inconspicuous and easily mix with the people and identify vulnerable properties.

Residents are being asked to take all kinds of precautions to stop burglaries from happening. Locking doors and windows is important, even when popping in and out of the home. Installing additional security like home safes is also a great way to keep burglars from getting at valuable belongings. The right security safes, alarms and security locks can save residents from loss.
